Maybe nothing is wrong exactly.

Your life might actually be pretty good. There are people you love, things you're grateful for, work to do, plans on the calendar, and plenty of reasons to look around and think, I should be happy.

And maybe you are! But you’re also kind of bored. 😅

You keep reaching for your phone even though there’s nothing you actually want to see. The weekend arrives and disappears, and you’re already waiting for the next one. You plan the trip, buy the thing, finish the project, move through another week ... and everything starts to feel like another thing to do.

Then comes the especially confusing part: Why am I not enjoying my life more?

Because nothing's dramatically wrong. There may not be some glaring problem to solve or giant life change begging to be made. And when you know how much you have to be grateful for, even admitting that something feels off can make you wonder if you're being ungrateful.

Maybe you don't need to blow up your entire life! Maybe something in your life does need to change.

You could be bored, or have spent so much time over-functioning that you've forgotten what it's like to do something simply because you want to. There might be a longing for more play, novelty, rest, desire, creativity, intimacy, risk, or something you don't even have language for yet. Or there could be something you've been tolerating that's subtly draining the color out of everything.

The truth is, I don't know what it is for you. But sometimes a lack of aliveness is information.

And this isn't about convincing yourself to love a life that doesn't fit. It's about getting close enough to your own life to notice what's actually happening inside it. There are seasons when life can be perfectly fine and still feel strangely far away from your heart and soul.

You miss the feeling of being completely here.

The kind of moment when something catches your attention so fully that the rest of the world seems to sharpen around it. You laugh harder than expected. Become fascinated by something completely ordinary. Feel the sun on your face and actually notice it. Or follow an impulse solely because it delights you.

Those moments can seem small, yet they often carry something we've been longing for: Contact with our own lives.

And that's where I want to begin.

1. Moments that wake you

The recognition: When was the last time something made you feel completely here?

Because aliveness has a feeling to it.

You know those moments when something has your attention so completely that, for a minute, you're not thinking about what you need to do next? You're just there. Something delights you, moves you, surprises you, fascinates you, and the world feels a little more vivid again.

I want to start here because I think your own life already has evidence of what wakes you up.

When have you felt completely effing here? What were you doing? What had your attention? Let's go find out. 👀

2. Magic in the mundane

The attention: What might you notice if you stopped waiting for life to become more extraordinary?

There's SO much happening inside an ordinary day that our brains simply cannot take all of it in. It's neuroscience! 😂

It could be a strange coincidence, or the way light falls across a room. Something hilarious you overhear in passing, or a tiny kindness you receive. A detail you've walked by a hundred times and, for whatever reason, actually see today.

None of it needs to mean anything profound, but what happens when you become a little more available to noticing it?

3. The spark that changed my day

The interruption: What happens when you follow the tiny thing that catches your attention?

This one is about a very small moment that could have easily been ignored. Something caught my attention, I got curious, and instead of immediately returning to whatever VERY important corporate thing I was supposed to be doing ... I followed it. 😂

That's it.

Except sometimes that's exactly how aliveness gets our attention—not with a life-changing revelation, but with a tiny spark of ooooh, what's that? So, what happens if you give it five minutes? ✨

4. Do the silly thing

The permission: What have you stopped doing because it doesn’t seem useful, productive, impressive, or important enough?

Okay, but what if the thing that makes you feel alive is COMPLETELY pointless? 😂

It doesn't improve you, or make you money ... and nobody's impressed by it. You can't turn it into content, put it on your résumé, or explain how it's contributing to your five-year plan. You just like it.

Maybe it makes you laugh, sends you disappearing down a bizarre little rabbit hole, or gives you an unreasonable amount of joy for something objectively ridiculous. I would like to formally argue that this is enough of a reason to do the silly thing! 🙌

5. Sea treasures

The wonder: What becomes visible when you let curiosity lead instead of deciding beforehand what matters?

I love what happens when we stop deciding what we're supposed to be looking for. You wander, linger, look closer, turn something over because it caught the light, and then walk ten feet in the wrong direction because wait, what is THAT?

There doesn't have to be a destination for curiosity to take you somewhere. This dream took me to the ocean. Come treasure hunting with me? 🌊

6. Nothing is lost in the heart that sees

The reverence: What changes when you let the small things matter as much as they actually do to you?

Have you ever been completely wrecked by something tiny?

A five-minute encounter, an animal, or an ordinary morning. Maybe it's a photo you can't bring yourself to delete, or some ridiculous little object that would mean absolutely nothing to anyone else, but you know.

I think our hearts have their own measurement system. They don't particularly care how long something lasted, how impressive it was, or whether anyone else understands why it mattered.

This dream is about one of those small things that became enormous inside me.

7. The golden herald

The return: What if the magic you’ve been looking for begins with becoming available to what is already here?

We've followed some wonderfully weird breadcrumbs to get here. 😂

We've noticed what wakes you up, paid attention to ordinary things, followed tiny sparks, made room for silliness, gone treasure hunting, and let small things truly matter. And now I want to bring us back to where we started: your actual life.

Not the more exciting one you might live someday, the vacation you're looking forward to, or that fresh next chapter you're yearning for. And not the version where you finally have enough time, energy, money, freedom, or whatever else you're waiting for.

This one. Because there may already be something here trying to get your attention. 👀

Where this Path leaves us

Aliveness can be surprisingly subtle! It might find you while you're standing barefoot outside with a pet you love, following a ridiculous impulse that makes you laugh, or looking at something you've seen dozens of times and suddenly becoming fascinated by it.

And sometimes it might show you something less comfortable.

Something you miss, something you want, something you've outgrown. A part of yourself that's been quiet for longer than you realized. That's why I don't think this Path is about making yourself appreciate your life harder.

Aliveness gives us information!

Your attention widens, curiosity gives you somewhere to go, delight becomes worth following, the smallest things regain their significance, and ordinary days start offering more places for you to make contact with what's happening right here and now. That contact is GOLD.

Because the more closely I pay attention to my life, the more I discover there is to love about being inside it. And I think this is part of what I've been calling magic all along: The experience of being here deeply enough to notice that I am ALIVE!

Maybe you've felt a little of it while moving through this Path.

A memory surfaced, or something made you smile. You remembered a version of yourself who used to follow curiosity more easily, or you noticed one small thing today that you might otherwise have walked right past. Or maybe something inside you went, Oh. I miss that.

Follow that. 🐇

You don't have to know what it means yet. Linger when something catches your attention. Give delight a little room to expand. Let the insignificant thing become significant because your heart says that it is. Pay attention to what wakes something up inside you—and to what doesn't.

Your life is already happening all around you.

Be here for it.
